A thorough code review is a critical step in the software development process and helps you provide high-quality code for your enterprise use. However, if an expert is looking for thousands of code and looking for bugs or other issues, it can be a massive, time-consuming process. Traditional reviews may be subjective and inconsistent Humans are human. As generative AI is increasingly integrated into the software development process, a considerable number of new AI-powered code review tools will enter the market, with software development groups increasing quality and ship clean code faster while increasing developer productivity and job satisfaction.
BITO is an innovative startup that creates AI agents for a wide range of software developers. He appeared as a pioneer in the field in 2023, launching the first AI-powered developer agent, bringing a large-scale language model (LLM) to the code writing environment. Bito's executive team sees developers and AI as key elements of the future, and is working to bring them together in a powerful new way by expanding its portfolio of AI-powered agents. Its flagship product, AI Code Review Agent, accelerates development time until pull requests (PRs) merge with up to 89% speeds (PRs), allowing developers to focus on code creation and innovation. Bito's AI Code Review Agent, aimed at helping senior software engineers review, focuses on summarizing, organizing and suggesting line-level modifications in a codebase context, and frees engineers to focus on more strategic aspects of code reviews, such as assessing business logic.
With over 100,000 active developers using the product globally, BITO has successfully used the generator AI to streamline code reviews. This will derive impressive results and business value for customers, including Gainsight, Privado, Pubmatic, On-Board Data Systems (OBDS), and leading software enterprises. BITO customers have discovered that AI Code Review Agent offers the following benefits:
- Accelerated PR merge is 89%
- Reduces regression by 34%
- Provides 87% of the PR feedback you need for reviews
- There is a signal-to-noise ratio of 2.33
- Works in over 50 programming languages
While these results are convincing, BITO had to overcome the inherent sense of vigilance among developers assessing flooding of new AI-powered tools. To accelerate and expand the adoption of AI Code Review Agents, Bito Leaders wanted to launch a free tier option. This encourages these prospects to experience the features and values offered by the AI Code Review Agent and upgrade to a full pay team plan. Its free plan offers AI-created PR summary to provide an overview of the changes, and its team plan offers more advanced features, such as downstream impact analysis and one-click acceptance of line-level code suggestions.
In this post, we share how BITO can provide free tier options for AI-powered code reviews using Amazon Nova.
Choose a cost-effective model for free tier products
To provide free tier options to AI code review agents, BITO needed a basic model (FM) that provided the right level of performance and results at a reasonable cost. Of course, providing code reviews to potential customers for free is not free for BITO. This is because we pay the inference cost. To identify models for the free plan, Bito conducted a two-week evaluation process on a wide range of models, including Amazon Bedrock's high-performance FMS and the Openai GPT-4O MINI. The Amazon Nova model (a fast and cost-effective model recently introduced on Amazon Bedrock) was particularly interesting for the team.
At the end of the evaluation, Bito determined that Amazon Nova Lite provided the right combination of performance and cost-effectiveness for its use case. That speed quickly created a summary of code reviews. However, costs, an important consideration for Bito's free plan, can be a deciding factor. Ultimately, Amazon Nova Lite met Bito's standards for speed, cost and quality. The combination of Amazon Nova Lite and Amazon Bedrock also allows Bito to provide the reliability and security they need to entrust Bito to code. After all, careful control of the code is one of Bito's core promises to its customers. It does not store code or use it for model training. Its products are also SOC 2 Type 2 certified to provide data security, integrity, privacy and confidentiality.
Implement models suitable for products of various layers
Bito currently employs Amazon Bedrock as a standardized platform for exploring, adding and running models. Bito uses Amazon Nova Lite as the main model for its free plans, while Anthropic's Claude 3.7 Sonnet enhances access and integrated payment team plans through a unified Amazon Bedrock API and control. Amazon Bedrock offers a seamless shift from Amazon Nova Lite to Anthropic sonnets when upgrading customers, minimizing code changes. Bito's leaders will quickly point out that Amazon Nova Lite not only strengthened its free plan, but also influenced it. Without the very low cost of Amazon Nova Lite, they wouldn't have been able to offer free tier AI code review agents. This strategy quickly produced results, attracting three times more prospects to the free plan than expected. At the end of the 14-day probation period, a considerable number of users will convert it into a full AI code review agent and access its full functionality.
Encouraged to succeed with AI Code Review Agent, Bito uses Amazon Nova Lite to enhance chat capabilities provided by Bito Wingman, a fully-featured developer assistant for an integrated development environment (IDE) that combines code generation, error handling, architectural advice and more. Again, the combination of Amazon Nova Lite's quality and low cost makes it the right option for Bito.
Conclusion
In this post, BITO, an innovative startup offering a growing portfolio of AI-powered developer agents, has shared how to choose Amazon Nova Lite to enhance the free tier products of its AI code review agent Fragship products. Its AI-powered agents are specifically designed to make developers' lives easier and make their work more impactful.
- Amazon Nova Lite has enabled Bito to meet one of the core business challenges that attracts corporate customers in an attractive way. By introducing a free tier, Bito has attracted three times more new customers to its generative, AI-driven flagship product, AI Code Review Agent.
- Amazon Nova Lite outperformed the other models during rigorous internal testing, providing the right level of performance with the extremely low cost BITO required to launch the free tier of AI Code Review Agent.
- Amazon Bedrock allows you to seamlessly switch models to each tier of your AI Code Review Agent as needed. For Amazon NovaLite's free plan and Anthropic's Claude 3.7 Sonnet for-pay team plan. Amazon Bedrock also provided security and privacy, as well as important considerations for BITO customers.
- BITO shows how innovative organizations can deliver value to their customers and businesses using the combination of Amazon Nova Lite quality, cost-effectiveness and speed.
“Our challenge is to develop AI capabilities and provide new value to developers, but at a reasonable cost,” says Amar Goel, co-founder and CEO of Bito. “Amazon Nova Lite will enhance the free delivery of AI Code Review Agents and provide the extremely fast, low-cost models needed to attract new customers.”
