In a recent note to employees, Amazon suggests more job shootings over the next few years. In a recent letter to employees, Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, clearly states his clear vision for the company's future. The letter shows a strengthened focus on artificial intelligence (AI) that leads to significant changes in the workforce, including potential reductions in the job role of companies.
Jassy highlighted the extensive integration of AI across Amazon's vast operations, focusing on applications such as “from Alexa to shopping features and internal operations.” He characterized the generator AI as a “once in a lifetime” technological advancement that could bring more possibilities to both consumers and businesses.
“Technology like generator AI is rare. They come out at once in a lifetime and completely change what is possible for our customers and businesses. So we're investing so extensively and the progress we're making is clear. Question,” Jussy said.
“Ten millions of customers around the world can see it with the AI shopping assistant, which is used to discover new products and make more informed purchase decisions,” he added.
AI is to drive away Amazon's corporate jobs
Jassy focused on how Amazon makes internal operations more efficient using generated AI. “We use widely generated AI for all internal operations. In our fulfillment network, we use AI to improve inventory placement, demand forecasting, and robotics efficiency. All of these have increased service and delivery speeds.
However, Jassy hinted at how AI recruitment will affect the workforce. “There are fewer people who need to do some of the work that's going on today, and more people who do other kinds of jobs,” he said.
On advice to his employees, Jassy added:
