KPMG International today launched KPMG Workbench, the KPMG foundation and single AI platform designed to scale global adoption and integration of AI, enhancing the trust and control of AI for all regions and teams. This is part of a multi-billion dollar investment in AI and agent transformation, and is the foundation that underpins KPMG companies' client delivery platform, KPMG Digital Gateway (Tax), KPMG Velocity (Advisory), Smart Audit platform, and KPMG Clara.
This is the latest in several AI announcements from KPMG, following recent investments with Microsoft and other Alliance partners by actually bringing innovative digital solutions, increased efficiency and advanced technologies to clients.
Highlights
- The KPMG Workbench has a network of 50 AI assistants (agents) and chatbots that interact in multiple sectors, with nearly 1,000 AI assistants being developed to meet the needs of diverse clients. These agents are built to work on a variety of large language models (LLMS) and work as digital teammates alongside KPMG experts to provide clients with fast, quality and reliable solutions.
- KPMG Workbench is a flexible platform built on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry Services, enabling agent communication from interoperable agents. Additionally, it links features from the entire KPMG ecosystem of Alliance Partners, including Oracle, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Workday, allowing clients to choose the model or AI agent that suits their tasks.
- KPMG Workbench helps KPMG's rich “services” (SAS), including KPMG's rich “software” (SAS), enable the next generation of AI-enabled client services to provide KPMG clients with AI tools that immerse them in the expertise of people's deep industry experts.
- KPMG Workbench incorporates data sovereignty. This means that clients have complete control over how data is stored and processed, helping them manage diverse risk and governance needs and meet local and global regulatory requirements.
- KPMG is the world's first organization to achieve BSI/ISO 42001* certification for AI management systems, and all agents and tools in the KPMG Workbench are certified as KPMG's “Reliable AI Stamps.”
“Clients will tell us that the ability to coordinate and control agents in a secure way is our number one concern. We also want a multi-model platform rather than being locked to one provider. We recognize this, recognize KPMG's own needs, and our strategy was to build a basic AI platform that allows us to set up an integrated AI model into one environment. At KPMG Workbench, we combine advanced AI agents with people's insights, judgment and deep expertise to provide smarter solutions for our clients, providing security and compliance with complete confidence.” – David Rowlands, Global Head of AI, KPMG International
A shared vision to change how KPMG experts work
KPMG leveraged the Microsoft Azure platform, which includes the AI capabilities of Azure AI Foundry, as the basis for the KPMG workbench. This investment illustrates the evolution of the workbench from KPMG's proven platform for developers to the company's central hub for delivering and managing AI. It uses advanced agent interoperability technology to connect intelligent tools and support at various stages of the client's journey.
Generic and Agent AI transforms it through its ability to help scale and specialize KPMG Workbench. By coordinating multiple task-specific agents to collaborate and share contexts, KPMG Workbench allows team members to automate complex multi-step processes, from client onboarding to regulatory reporting. These agents are modular, reusable and continuously evolving, making them easier to adapt to changing business needs.
“The KPMG Workbench represents a transformative step in AI-driven collaboration and a transformational step to integrating multi-agent intelligence into a centralized platform that leverages AZURE AI Foundry. This investment is more than just technological innovation. It is a key move towards the future of the open agent web. It will supplement employees to promote the use of Microsoft to reinforce customer engagement through employees. That vision comes back to life.” – Judson Althoff, Chief Commercial Officer, EVP, Microsoft
