Albania appoints AI-generated ministers – the world

AI News

TIRANA (Albania): Albanian Prime Minister Eddie Rama said Thursday he has appointed the world's first AI-generated government minister to oversee the public bid, and the artificial intelligence has promised it “free of corruption.”

After winning a massive election in May, he introduced his new cabinet at his Socialist Party meeting, and Rama introduced a new “member” named “Diera” in Albanian, “The Sun.”

“Diera is the first (government) member, physically unaware, but effectively created by artificial intelligence,” Rama said.

Diera was commissioned to all decisions regarding public bidding, which he added, “does not include 100% corruption and that all public funds submitted to the bidding process will be completely transparent.”

Diella was launched in January as an AI-driven virtual assistant that resembles a woman in traditional Albanian costumes. So far, official figures say it has published 36,600 digital documents and has provided around 1,000 services through the platform.

Having secured his fourth term in office in the election, Rama will present his new cabinet to lawmakers in the coming days.

The fight against corruption, particularly in administration, is an important standard for Albania's bids to the European Union.

Rama aims to lead the Balkans to the political bloc by 2030, with 2.8 million.
