Segura’s Joe Carson talks agentic AI, cyber resilience, and lessons from Estonia

Joe Carson, chief security evangelist and advisory CISO at Segura, says the cybersecurity industry has entered an era of AI versus AI, where attackers and defenders deploy autonomous agents against each other. Humans are increasingly becoming orchestrators rather than operators, he says.

Carson said artificial intelligence can act as an accelerator for organizations, enabling faster decision-making and increased efficiency, but companies need to define clear goals and assess risks before implementing it. Without clear strategies and guardrails, AI could amplify existing vulnerabilities rather than contain them.
“The way forward is to work with AI. But humans, AI will not replace us. AI will empower us,” Carson said.
In a video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSAC Conference 2026, Carson also said:
