A reverse image search for keyframes from a viral video led us to an X post by IANS dated December 11, 2025. You can see that watermark in the viral clip.

When the same audio was analyzed using the Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector, it was determined that the clip was likely a deepfake.

Moreover, the fact-finding wing of the government's PIB has also clarified that Lt. Gen. Virendra Vats has not made any such statement.
