BLodgic Founder and CEO talks about the gaps that keep defenders “below the surface”

Brennan Lodge, founder and CEO of BLodgic and director of information security at the Manhattan Institute, said companies are still “under the surface” when it comes to combating cyber fraud.

Despite significant investments and a renewed focus on fraud prevention, many organizations remain on the defensive as threat actors and fraudsters outpace risk mitigation and incident response with new schemes, technologies, and attacks powered by artificial intelligence.
While resources and overall awareness around fraud are increasing, the industry continues to suffer from gaps in security posture maturity. Lodge emphasized that AI has added many new risks and opportunities for cyber defenders. Organizations can also “fight fire with fire” by using AI for detection and response.
“We are still below the surface. Attackers and fraudsters are still winning. There are still many gaps to fill. AI throws new wrinkles in fraud prevention. So there is no excuse for AI to sit on the sidelines, especially now that these risks are real,” Lodge said.
