SpaceX’s AI division posted an operating loss of $6.4 billion in 2025, compared with a loss of $1.6 billion a year earlier, according to the filing. Segment-adjusted EBITDA fell from a positive $300 million in 2024 to a loss of $1.2 billion as the company increased spending on computing infrastructure and growth initiatives.
The company said it has already deployed AI training clusters with more than 1 gigawatt of nameplate computing capacity and expects this segment to require a multi-year investment cycle to achieve sustained profitability.
That sounds expensive. That also sounds familiar.

SpaceX isn’t just talking about AI models. The company says its long-term plans include selling AI computing, selling AI intelligence, designing its own chips, and even deploying AI computing infrastructure in orbit. The AI opportunity across infrastructure, enterprise applications, subscriptions, and advertising is estimated at approximately $26.5 trillion.
Investors focused on the $6.4 billion loss could end up in the red. Mr. Musk appears to be considering a construction bill.
