AI boom: Anthropic invests $50 billion in U.S. data center network with Fluidstack. Texas and New York lead the way.

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic announced on Wednesday an ambitious $50 billion plan to build a new data center network in partnership with UK-based Fluidstack, signaling its intention to rapidly expand as global demand for AI infrastructure soars, according to AFP.The facility, to be built first in Texas and New York, will form the foundation of Anthropic’s long-term push to power its growing suite of AI tools and services. The company said it is also considering additional locations across the United States.CEO Dario Amodei said: “These new locations will help us develop more advanced AI systems that can drive breakthroughs in science and technology, while creating jobs across the country.”The announcement comes as technology companies around the world rush to add capacity to data centers that form the backbone of large-scale AI models. Such centers typically take years to complete and require vast amounts of electricity to operate.Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees and best known for its “Claude” AI platform, Anthropic recently deepened its partnership with Google to expand access to cloud infrastructure and high-performance chips. The company said it currently serves more than 300,000 enterprise customers worldwide.
