Is AI a boon or a curse to job security? A security tool or a vulnerability? A mature enterprise technology or an immature toy? An essential enterprise technology or a threat to humanity?
According to survey respondents Information WeekLatest State of AI Reportit's all of the above.
More than a year after generative artificial intelligence became widely available to the public, we surveyed 292 people who work directly with AI in their organizations.
Unsurprisingly, the survey results reveal that AI adoption is widespread, with businesses using the technology for a variety of tasks, with 85% of respondents rating their company's approach to AI as “pioneering” or “interested but cautious.”
However, expectations for this new technology also differ significantly from reality: So far, AI has not had a significant impact on workforce numbers, and the majority of respondents feel their jobs will not be affected by AI.
Meanwhile, concerns about data security, illusions and the reliability of results weighed heavily on the minds of respondents, with 53% saying that “if left unchecked,” artificial intelligence would be a “threat to humanity.”
