On Tuesday, YouTube introduced new tools for podcasters at its YouTube Live event in New York, including new ways to turn video podcasts into clips and YouTube shorts, as well as new features that will help you create audio-only podcast videos. Both are equipped with AI and will be rolled out in the next few months.
Using AI technology, US video podcast creators can create clips more easily with AI suggestions, the company says. This will be available in “the coming months,” but the ability to convert these clips to YouTube shorts will arrive early next year.
With this addition, YouTube could potentially provide more feed to compete with rival short-form video apps like Tiktok and Instagram (Reels). You might also be able to direct users to Podcasters and find it interesting on the larger platform of YouTube.

Meanwhile, another new feature, which will also be available early next year, will help audio podcasters turn content into video. Using AI, these creators can generate customizable videos for podcasts, the company says. However, this feature can only be used to “select Podcasters” at launch, with a larger expansion planned for the second half of 2026.

YouTube has focused on creating tools for Podcasters over the past few years, and Pods has become a more prominent feature of the YouTube homepage and its YouTube Music Service. Meanwhile, Spotify is also entering the market with the addition of additional support for podcasters' video podcasts and other engagement features such as comments, polls, Q&A, and additional monetization tools.

In February, the company announced that YouTube outperformed its 1 billion podcaster audience each month. Today, YouTube announced that as of July 2025, users are consuming over 100 million hours of podcasts each day, with over 30% of those times beginning as live streams or premieres.
