Claim:The video shows a woman chasing and harassing him on a road in Colony before shooting him in the front wheel of a motorcycle.
fact:error. The viral video was generated by AI.
HYDERABAD: A video purportedly showing a woman confronting her harasser with a gun has been widely shared on social media. Users claim that the video depicts a real-life incident in which a woman was chased and harassed by a man on a motorcycle, then pulled out a pistol and shot the front tire of the man’s car.
In the viral video, a man can be seen chasing a woman on a motorbike, before the woman suddenly turns around, pulls out a gun and fires at the motorbike.
One X user shared the video with the caption, “Those guys should have been beaten in the middle of the market…why save them in the first place…??” (Translated from Hindi) (Archive)
fact check
NewsMeter found this claim to be false. The video that went viral does not depict the actual incident. It was generated by AI.
Visual inspection reveals AI artifacts
A closer look at the video revealed several inconsistencies that are common in AI-generated content.
Several of the motorcycles in the clip, including the one ridden by the harasser, appear nearly identical in design and color, suggesting they were repeatedly generated by the AI. Also, the pistol suddenly appears in the woman’s hand without any natural movement or transition.
It was also observed that the vehicle’s license plate was blank or distorted. This is a common flaw in AI-generated videos. The bullet impact on the road forms an unusually small crater, and the bike’s tires emit unnatural white smoke after rapid acceleration.
Additionally, the gunshot audio is unusually clear and doesn’t match the surrounding outdoor environment.
AI detection tool
We analyzed the videos using AI detection tools such as Hive Moderation and Deepfake-O-Meter. Both tools flagged clips that were likely produced by compositing.
The viral video does not show the actual incident of the woman shooting and killing her harasser. This is an AI-generated video.
Therefore, that claim is false.
