We got a close look at Xiaomi’s wild hypercar, and it was pure video game bliss

AI Video & Visuals

Xiaomi is used to showing off luxury cars at Mobile World Congress, and the 2024 SU7 EV is one of the most popular products at the show.

For MWC 2026, the company went all out with a car literally pulled from the wild world of racing video games. The Vision GT electric hypercar is designed for Gran Turismo 7, a PlayStation 5 racing game filled with incredibly fast vehicles.

But rather than leaving this car as a pure digital asset for gamers to enjoy, Xiaomi had the courage to build a version of it and display it at the show. I happened to be there with my camera so I was able to photograph the beast from all angles. Let’s take a closer look.

From the front, it’s unmistakably a hypercar, with its huge air intakes, low stance, and huge front carbon fiber splitter.

No, but it’s like Really Huge front splitter. Try not to drive this car over big speed bumps.

Viewed from three-quarters of the way from the front, you can clearly see the shape of the hypercar with its domed roof. Xiaomi said in a press conference that the car was “carved by the wind,” but I’m sure several people were involved as well.

The wheels look great. They have huge hubs that somehow don’t spin when the wheels turn. Apart from making sure the brand name is always visible, Xiaomi says this also makes it easier for air to pass through the brand name, reducing drag.

This is what it looks like from the side. Xiaomi said that this is a concept car made just for gaming, but it would take a lot of effort to make one just for gaming assets, so perhaps the company plans to create some of these at some point in the future.

It’s even more amazing when seen from behind. This is basically a giant hole designed to let all the air pass straight through and reduce drag. The all-around LED brake lights are a nice touch. Imagine being stuck behind this thing in traffic.

I think the back is at a sharp angle to increase speed.

There are vents around the wheel to disperse wind and keep your brakes cool.

Although we weren’t allowed to see inside the car, a previous video shown during Xiaomi’s conference showed it was equipped with LED lights that completely surrounded the driver. The seat also has a rounded design, making it look like a sofa in a car. At least, that’s how Xiaomi describes it. From the outside, it doesn’t look like the most comfortable vehicle for travel.

But at least it’s a polite vehicle and greets you cheerfully as you approach. I like gentle cars.

Xiaomi has not revealed other important details about this car, such as its price if it actually goes on sale. That’s probably more than this tech journalist can afford.

While it can be a little frustrating to see a concept that never turns into a product you can actually buy or use, it’s still very exciting to see such a dramatic vehicle in the flesh.
