US Med-Equip eases hospital headaches with AI and RPA

“Improving operational efficiency and reducing costs while improving quality of care and patient experience are key goals for healthcare providers,” said Lynne Dunbrack, vice president of IDC's public sector group. “A cloud-based solution that speeds up the medical equipment ordering process is appealing to healthcare organizations given the number of types of medical equipment and devices in use across the healthcare enterprise. These critical assets need to be managed, tracked and maintained so they are ready and available when they are needed most to deliver high-quality patient care.”

US Med-Equip's Marin says the solution is a win-win for patients, hospital staff, and his business, and wouldn't have been possible without the cloud. Not only does it help the health system treat and discharge patients most efficiently, but nurses and clinicians receive reports with all invoices from service providers. Previously, staff had to manually match each patient with each invoice and reconcile the ledger every month. This made renting medical beds cumbersome and forced nurses to look for an easier in-house solution.

“First of all, it increases customer retention,” the CIO said, noting that the selling points of simplicity and strong cybersecurity will help grow his company's business. “You hear a lot about hospitals and universities' APIs being hacked, which are unhackable, and the worst thing that happens is you lose customers. [rental] It retrieves data instead of millions of records.”
