university Hawaii At Hilo, we’re reimagining how students learn about artificial intelligence (A.I.) — starts this fall.
The Faculty of Business and Economics will launch a new department. A.I. Concentrate in the Bachelor of Business Administration program. new A.I. The certificate is also open to students of all majors. A new course will follow, focusing on the use of A.I. in business, science, and public service.
This shift is in response to a clear need in today’s workforce.
“A.I. “This is no longer a niche or emerging technology. It’s already integrated into the way work is done in almost every field,” said Sukwa Hong, associate professor of data science and business management.
Students learn how to manipulate and evaluate data. A.I.– Check the results produced and apply these tools responsibly.

The new program is being led by Hong and Chenbo Shi, assistant professor of quantitative business analysis, who are working closely with business, data science, and computer science faculty to support the new program.

New introductory course teaches students how to guide A.I. Use tools, evaluate results, and communicate results. Community-based projects connect those skills to real-world problems.
The advanced course has also been updated. Currently they include: A.I.– Supports analysis, prediction, and decision-making with a focus on ethics.
