Even as a professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) points out, tools using artificial intelligence (AI) have become part of people's daily lives, saving a lot of time and confusion, whether they have not yet noticed or taken for granted.
Dr. Eiman Elbad, Associate Professor in Information and Computing Technology, HBKU's Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Head of Computing Technology, defines AI as “a field in which smart technologies are developed to perform human tasks based on data analysis, understanding and understanding, and decisions are made based on them.”
“Once you observe your daily life, you can see that tools with AI are actually part of our everyday lives, such as algorithmic analysis and data, social media, user data analysis, and mapping programs based on instant translation services based on text analysis,” he said.
Dr. Erbad said that with the increasing spread of AI technology, there is an increase in fear of its advantage and the ability to take over work.
“Humans are afraid of this new technology because they don't fully understand it,” he explained. “If students, seniors and others understand the fundamentals of this technology and how they can use it, we can reduce the fear and resistance associated with AI development.”
According to Dr. Erbad, when technology develops rapidly, there is always an initial rejection or fear, especially when it comes to business and employment.
“But this doesn't mean that AI will take over all the work,” he said. “Some jobs only have automated parts, and new roles will appear in the future.”
Dr. Elbad says he has been interested in the development of AI in Qatar for many years.
“This is the focus of important research in Qatar institutions, such as the Qatar Foundation and Hamad bin Khalifa University,” he said.
“We are looking to witness the development of more technology that can see applications in a variety of areas, in terms of automating educational tasks and personalized education advances, automating health data processing, automating logistics and relying on robots.
