Trump Media announced Wednesday that it has beta tested its new AI-powered search engine on its true social platform. A new feature called Truth Search AI will be made possible through a partnership with Prplexity.
“People powered by Perplexity, a Software and AI company dedicated to providing direct, contextually accurate answers with transparent citations, Truth Search AI aims to enhance the true social platform and exponentially increase the amount of information available to users.
A spokesman for Perplexity told Business Insider that Truth Social is using the Perplexity Sonar API. They refused to discuss the details of the partnership or the financial terms.
Truth Social is the latest social media platform for integrating AI. Elon Musk's Xai debuted the AI chatbot Grok as an X user in 2023. Mark Zuckerberg's Meta introduced AI Chatbots (Meta AI) across social media and messaging platforms in 2024.
AI emerged as a key focus of President Donald Trump's first administration, but his second term has become more important. In January, Trump issued an executive order to “remove barriers to American leadership in artificial intelligence.” Last month, the White House announced its plan of action to win the global AI race.
Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes said the company will review user feedback on Truth Social and decide on the next step.
“We plan to robustly refine and extend search capabilities based on user feedback when implementing a wide range of additional enhancements to our platform,” Nunes, a former California lawmaker, said in a press release.
Representatives from Trump Media did not respond to requests for comment from Business Insider.
