Chen Gang, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee, and chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, accompanied Vietnamese leaders and a delegation to visit an exhibition on China-Vietnam cooperation in the field of AI application and an exhibition of excellent AI-equipped products developed by Chinese companies.

The China-ASEAN AI Application Cooperation Center, jointly established by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and ASEAN countries, aims to promote the comprehensive and mutually beneficial development of AI on a global scale. This is considered a flagship project in promoting Nanning’s “Digital Silk Road” initiative.

On June 30, 2025, the Center began its Phase 1 operations covering a total area of ​​7.78 sq km.

The center will encourage talented Chinese companies to leverage the potential and demand of ASEAN countries, and work with partner countries to promote AI applications across fields such as agriculture, healthcare, tourism, education, finance, and logistics, tailored to each country’s specific needs. We are also focusing on training AI human resources.

By the end of 2025, a total of 51 projects have been signed in China and 16 others in ASEAN countries under this framework. The center also plans to establish additional branches in other cities across China and ASEAN. On November 26, 2025, Hanoi and Guangxi signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly explore the development of a Vietnam-China AI application cooperation center. VNA
