TikTok reportedly plans to introduce a robust search results page by incorporating generative AI. The feature appears to be a new highlight for TikTok and is called “Search Highlights.” With new AI features, you can get ChatGPT answers to your TikTok search questions.
Snippets of AI results appear at the top of some search results pages, and clicking on a section opens a new page with the full response. The Verge reported that in a quick test, users were able to find AI results for queries on topics such as recipes and “best laptops of 2024.”

As reported on TikTok's description page, TikTok's new AI-generated content is produced using ChatGPT. The algorithm will display this content if: [it] Find something related to your search. ” However, this feature seems to be limited at the moment as not all queries will have an AI answer.
It is understood that the AI smart search feature is not a replacement for expert suggestions. This smart search may not be effective for law, finance, and insurance. “We strongly recommend that you consult experts in these fields regarding such questions,” TikTok explained.

Video platform TikTok appears to be steadily adding features to its in-app search. Last fall, TikTok began testing adding Google search results to its in-app results page that could direct users back to Google. TikTok is also expected to experiment with adding links to Wikipedia, IMDb, and other websites directly on the app's search results page.
It is believed that a similar feature called “Search Highlights”, which is not labeled as AI-generated, will be added to TikTok. It may appear higher in search results. Critics argue that the source of this information is not clear, such as whether it is an abridged version of the video or taken from somewhere else. TikTok declined to immediately respond to a request for comment about the feature.
