This Android video is so good that I thought it was AI. it's not

AI Video & Visuals

Humanoid robots are rapidly advancing, with many people featured on the digital trends page last year, including impressive efforts by Boston Robotics, Unitree, Figures and Limx Dynamics.

All of these robots have a very mechanical and industrial look, and designers avoid the more realistic Android look.

Enter Adverform. A Chinese robotics company recently shared a video (above) showing an incredibly realistic humanoid head. In fact, the video was so amazing that I had to check if AI was being generated. it's not.

The so-called “head only” is described as a “face robot” designed for research, interaction and high-end display scenarios.

The incredible gimmick incorporates a complete facial actuation system with 25 micromotors that allow for realistic representations that can depict all human emotions.

Only the head students include the camera for visual recognition, but the built-in microphone and speakers allow real-time audio interaction.

“The compact yet powerful head module can be mounted on a variety of bases or integrated into larger robotic systems, making it an ideal platform for emotionally driven AI research, human-robot interaction research, and character-based installations,” the company says.

AndyForm was founded in 2024 by Columbia PhD student Yuhang Hu. The robot player told the South China Morning Post in 2024 that he believes he is heading towards an age where he cannot convey the difference between humans and androids.

“Within ten years, we might interact with robots and feel almost human,” Hu says, “Maybe 20 years later we could walk normally and perform some tasks like humans.”

Yes, it's all getting a bit of sci-fi in the world of robots. Things started to get really weird as they fused this extraordinary face with AI-powered humanoid robots like Unitree's H1 and Boston Dynamic's Atlas.

WestworldI'm going here,” one person commented on X. “Yeah, we're screwed,” another said.

In a more positive note, realistic Android could potentially improve daily life by providing dating and support in areas such as health care, elderly care, education, and treatment. We need to get over the creeping up by it first.
