YouTube is rolling out a new feature that uses artificial intelligence to allow creators to easily dub their videos into other languages.
As reported by The Verge, the video giant said at VidCon that it is integrating the team at Aloud, an AI-powered dubbing tool built in Google’s Area 120 incubator.
YouTube is very diverse as a platform that prioritizes content creators. However, not being able to connect with certain demographics because they can’t speak certain languages can limit a creator’s reach. This tool will prove to be very beneficial to a wide range of creators.
How does YouTube’s new dubbing tool work?
First, Aloud transcribes the video and provides the transcript for authors to review and edit later. The tool then finally translates the edits and generates the dubbing.
YouTube’s vice president of creator products, Amjad Hanif, claims the company is already testing Aloud’s tools with “hundreds” of creators.
Expect more support soon
According to YouTube, the service currently supports only a handful of languages, with more coming soon.
Currently this tool only supports English, Spanish and Portuguese.
