On December 14, 2025, the world lost an outstanding filmmaker when Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle were tragically murdered in their home. Reiner was a visionary who created some of the most beloved films of the past 40 years. In honor of his incredible career, a digital creator known as Matrix created an AI-generated video imagining Reiner walking around a movie set.
“Few directors have shaped modern cinema as much as Rob Reiner,” The Matrix writes in its video caption. “Across comedy, romance, drama and adventure, his films defined eras, launched careers and became cultural touchstones.”
This moving tribute video follows Reiner, dressed in a white suit, walking forward as the world he created gently unfolds around him. As he moves, the scene transitions seamlessly into the next movie. stay by my side (1986) and when harry met sally (from 1987) Rumor has it (2005) and bucket list (2007)—familiar characters and moments appear as if they were walking with him.
In the comments, many expressed their sadness at Reiner's death, while praising the care and respect shown by The Matrix in the memorial. One person wrote, “This is beautiful and really made me realize all the great work he's done,” while another commented, “And now this is a great use for AI.”
