Videos circulating on social media (here, here, here and here) show people in full protective gear spraying or applying substances to unripe fruits and vegetables, which appear to quickly ripen and change color. The video is being shared with the claim that it was filmed inside a factory in China. Let's uncover the truth behind this video.

Claim: This video shows workers in a Chinese factory spraying chemicals on unripe fruits and vegetables, causing them to ripen instantly.
fact: This video is generated by AI. It comes from accounts that label such clips as digitally created, and AI detection tools also confirm that they are not real. So the claim is: error.
To find the truth, I performed a reverse image search on Google and found the original video uploaded by this account.Fukiuju” is a page known for posting AI-generated content. The creator labels this clip as AI-generated, and the account includes several similar videos created by AI that show fruits and vegetables “ripening” instantly (here, here, and here).

When we checked the original upload, we found that the video contained Chinese text. This translates to:The video footage is a digital composite and does not exist in real life.'

To verify whether the video was generated by AI, we ran the video through Hive, an AI detection tool, and found that there was a 99.9% chance that the clip was generated by AI. This, along with other evidence, confirms that the video was indeed generated by an AI. Previously, another video from the same account was also circulating as real, but Factoryly previously debunked it.

In summary, the video purports to show fruits and vegetables ripening instantly after being sprayed with a substance in a Chinese factory, and was generated by AI.
