New applications for AI and AI-driven systems are seemingly endless, and new projects are being identified and trialled all the time. Whether its application is increasing flexibility and scalability in the production of digitalized and automated wiring looms, new AI-based dryer operations in paint shops, or the use of weld spatter detection systems, the increased use of AI is transforming the way Audi operates.
To achieve this, Audi relies on a combination of its own know-how and the expertise of strong industrial and scientific partners. Internally, around 60 experts from the Audi Production Lab (P-Lab) and P-Data Factory drive new technologies from the first idea to large-scale production.
Audi is working with Broadcom, Cisco and Siemens to implement the interaction between virtualization platforms, networks and automation technologies as part of EC4P.
Additionally, the company has been an active partner of IPAI in Heilbronn, Europe’s applied AI hotspot, since 2023. These collaborations provide access to the latest developments, start-ups and talent, accelerating the transition of innovation to serial production. These are exciting times, with change occurring at an unprecedented pace, and as Gerd Walker points out, Audi is at the forefront of technology.
