India's largest IT company, Tata Consultancy Services, has formed a new unit for artificial intelligence-based operations, naming insider Amit Kapur as the main one, as the company's memo. Reuters It was shown.

The new AI and Services Transformation Unit will house all of the company's existing capabilities in technology with the aim of deepening its focus on AI domain solutions and accelerating innovation, the memo said.
The formation of a new unit for TCS comes a month after announcing plans to cut 12,000 jobs in front of the sector, flaring up the signal that India's US$283 billion ($43.6 billion) outsourcing sector can see more layoffs as AI use deepens.
Indian IT companies are competing to adopt and deliver more AI products to attract client spending, which has been curtailed over many quarters due to global macroeconomic uncertainty.
“In the past few years, TCS has made a major foray in AI fronts by expanding its capabilities, reskilling the workforce and deepening its partnerships,” the company said in a memo.
Kapur, who has been with the company for 20 years, has been in charge of the unit since September. He last led the UK and Ireland business at TCS.
The company did not respond immediately Reuters'Request for comments seeking confirmation regarding Kapur's appointment and unit formation.
TCS was the first Indian IT company to devote its business catering solely to AI and Allied Technologies, following a similar move in June with US rival accents.
“IT companies are beginning to see AI transforming LEDs as the only major lever to accelerate growth within lukewarm macros,” said Pareeekh Jain, founder of IT research firm EIIR Trend.
“This change reflects extracting more AI-focused projects from clients.”
