AI Video & Visuals

Amazon’s Prime Video is gearing up for a packed May, led by the premiere of the long-awaited “Spider Noir” series starring Nicolas Cage. The show ends on May 27th, with Cage playing Ben Reilly, a grizzled, super-powered private investigator navigating 1930s New York.

Beyond superhero fare with noir elements, the streaming giant is diversifying its content with documentaries, live events, and more. Kyle Larson’s NASCAR documentary “Kyle Larson vs. The Double” will premiere on May 21st. Meanwhile, Prime Video’s new series expands as live music takes center stage during the Sueños Festival and 61st Academy of Country Music Awards streams.

Live sports and music dominate

Sports enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice with live coverage of the NBA Playoffs, WNBA and NWSL games, MLB’s New York Yankees, and NASCAR races scheduled throughout the month. This extensive sports live streaming highlights Prime Video’s commitment to real-time event coverage.

Amazon Music also leverages the platform to broadcast major events. Sueños Festival will be held from Chicago on May 23rd and 24th and will feature top reggaeton and Latin trap artists. The 61st ACM Awards will be streamed live from Las Vegas on May 17th.

Original series and movies end this month

Several new Prime Original series are set to debut. “No Place to Be Single” is a story about a Tuscan vineyard owner whose life is forever changed by his childhood friend, and will be released on May 8th. Off Campus, based on the book series by Elle Kennedy, focuses on an elite ice hockey team and the women in their lives and will premiere on May 13th.

“Good Omens” fans can look forward to a 90-minute special on May 13 that continues Aziraphale and Crowley’s epic journey. It’s Not Ryan, a drama that explores multigenerational family relationships after loss, will be released on May 15th. Jack Ryan: Ghost War, a feature film that continues John Krasinski’s spy story, will be released on May 20th.

The second season of the action-packed spy thriller ‘Citadel’ returns on May 6th, with Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas joining the cast.

May 27th is also the day “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” arrives on the platform.
