Sónar+D 2025 talks about the art, music and creative industries

Sonar+d We are working on the use of quantum science in the arts music and aiexperimental video games of performance, and what looks like in the future in the creative industry with a series of lectures Sónar2025. The event will be held from June 12th to 14th, 2025 at FiraMontjuïc in Barcelona, Spain as part of the annual Electronic Music and Digital Art Festival. recently, Over 100 lecturesexhibitions, workshops and performances take place at once. dEsignboom will hold discussions during the festival and interview artists Yolanda Uriz, Dmitry Morozov aka :: Vtol :: and George Moraitis about practicing and creating contemporary art, sound performances and stage designs.

Yolanda Uriz uses physical phenomena, vibrations, electromagnetic waves and chemical molecules to decipher sounds, lights and smells in her installations and performances. This adoption of sound also exists in the robotics and installations of Dmitry Morozov, aka::VTOL::', with an emphasis on links between emerging systems and new kinds of technology integration. Even George Moratis works with Sound to narrate memory, experience and sense of history through sound art, audiovisual installations, and two-dimensional works and performances. Designboom's lecture will be held on June 12th at 5:30pm. Historically, Sónar+D was founded in 2013 as a platform for creatives to examine technology, and now AI has an impact on art, music, and even society. This edition of the conference focuses on three major thematic areas: AI + creativity, the future of the creative industry, and the world ahead.

For AI + creativity between Sónar + D (tickets available) here), this section examines how creatives can use AI production, music and audiovisual design. discussion It also dives into the ethical and political aspects of artificial intelligence. Jordi Pons' artistic trends, Music & AI discusses new music genres and sonic structures from AI algorithms, and Rebecca Fiebrink is a session that allows you to access Design Your Dream Music AI Tool, AI Tool Design sessions without programming knowledge.

Joanne Armitage's automation organization: Power, Music and AI explore power dynamics as users embrace AI for creative production. The lecture also includes examining gender bias in algorithmic music. This is about machine learning and treatment as a “resonant entity” as a musical understanding of Marie Balmain. Meanwhile, there is a masterclass that uses real-time audio machine learning with a culturally specific sound with Ramsan (Hanoi) Huntrakle known as Ramsan (Yabo Hanoi). Viewers can participate in AI Performance Playground, an AI & Music Hacklab that allows visitors to use AI as a real instrument. In this section, +Rain Film Festival also presents films produced with AI models, while Territorios Sonoros Engertenes from Audiostellar showcases how motion tracking and AI power dance for visual and sonic performances. At the same time, Maria Arna will premiere AMA, a live musical performance using AI with a human voice.

Discussions on the present and future of the creative industry

Within the Creative Industries section, conversations highlight changes and opportunities within the creative sector, including but not limited to AI in music and arts, cultural management, communication, advertising, experience design, and trend search. The “Future of Creative Industries” Forum features experts from institutions such as the New Museum, Hervision, Onassis Foundation, Serpentine Gallery, New Art Foundation, Las Foundation, Capelica, Gnration, and Tabacarella.

This session explores the role of cultural institutions in sharing new ideas and trends within a media saturated environment. Trend analyst Berta Segura and Francesca Tur Host “Hacking the World” analyze how marketing, geopolitics, technology and digital culture change creator profiles, audience formation, and artist collaborative interactions. The intersection of cultural heritage and digital technology is explored through Lux Mundi, an audiovisual experience that reinterprets Romanesque fresco paintings. Artists Alba G. Corral, Massó, Desilence and Hamill Industries are working with Tarta Relena for the general tarta of this Catalonian initiative.

Still within the creative industry section of the future, creative collaboration and technology integration is also at the heart of the integrity. The European network, The Times brings contributions from Margarida Mendes, Chris Watson and Isabella Dwyk, as well as St. Abdullah, Eomac and Rebecca Salbadri. Arts Korea Lab will be holding “Future Thinking” featuring Korean creators such as Woman Open Tech Lab, Earth-Topia, Seungsoon Park, Hwia Kim and Tae Eun Kim. Alphatheta presents the Euphonia Rotary Mixer and Virtual Reality DJ Suite. Music 2.0 and JSPA explore the history of Japanese synthesizers.

Musictech Europe, in collaboration with Barcelona Music Tech Hub, features Musictech Dialogues on Music Tech Europe Academy's startup presentation and data use in the creative economy. The event also includes interviews with artists and participants. Designboom has interviewed Yolanda Uriz, Dmitry Morozov aka :: Vtol :: and Lounge+D's George Moraitis, and Timeout London also hosts live interviews. W1 Curates will showcase art and music collaborations on Stage+D screens featuring artists such as Max Cooper and Goldie.

Space exploration is a recurring theme. Xin Liu's “Space Metabolism” discusses the scientific and poetic elements of her work, including her personal genomic exhibit, “A Book of Mine.” The program also explores human interactions between technology and the environment. Albert.Data's “Synapticon” performance demonstrates real-time brain activity using a brain-computer interface.

Danielle Braithwaite-Shirley's “We Can't Pretend” offers interactive digital stories that explore the history of black trans individuals. Tega Brain's “Automation Questions” highlights political and environmental concerns and addresses digital sustainability through creative coding and DIY strategies. The discussion extends to social innovation and community building. “Portal: Talks of Worlds to Come” is presented by the Social Hub and features a panel of experts discussing shared space design, sustainability and cultural innovation. The program also includes performances such as Luis Garbán (Cardopusher), featuring “Destructicción,” an audiovisual project that combines reggaeton, industrial and breakcore. Each of these lectures and forums contributes to the overall purpose of Sónar+D, which is to create a space for knowledge exchange between different disciplines. These programs coincide with the Sónar 2025 Festival, which will be held between June 12th and 14th.
