Driving through San Francisco Snowflake Summit 2024 A few things are certain about AI's current progress: Beyond just celebrating the rise of smart city networks and self-driving taxis, 90% of billboards are talking about the power of AI and how you can harness its benefits for your business.
Home to Silicon Valley, the city attracts entrepreneurial spirit, fresh thinking, and budding talent looking for ways to improve the way work gets done.
In perfect response to the mood on the ground, Snowflake announced a series of developments aimed at increasing the benefits that organisations and data analysts can derive from its products, including unleashing the power of AI across teams.
In his keynote speech, Benoit Dageville, co-founder and president of products at Snowflake, emphasized that “ultimately, enterprise AI is only as good as the data foundation on which it is based,” and cited the following as the most important elements of the data journey: “elastic on-demand computing that supports both CPUs and GPUs makes it easy to build and run any workload,” “access to world-class models in a serverless version optimized for efficiency and governance at every layer,” and “the ability to share and access AI models and apps not only within an organization, but across clouds, regions, and even boards.”
Snowflake The company announced a new collaboration with NVIDIA to help customers and partners build customized AI data applications on Snowflake powered by NVIDIA AI.
In this series of partnerships, Snowflake NVIDIA AI Enterprise Integrating Software NeMo Retriever Microservice In Snowflake Cortex AIa fully managed large-scale language model and vector search service.
This enables organizations to connect custom models to diverse business data and deliver highly accurate responses. Snowflake ArcticIt is an open grade LLM, but now NVIDIA TensorRT-LLM The software delivers highly optimized performance to users. Arctic is also now available as an NVIDIA NIM inference microservice, making Arctic's efficient intelligence accessible to more developers.
As businesses look for ways to strategically apply data and drive customization, the collaboration between Snowflake and NVIDIA will enable users to more quickly create bespoke AI solutions specific to their use cases and realize the potential of enterprise AI.
“Combining NVIDIA's full-stack accelerated computing and software with the cutting-edge AI capabilities of Snowflake's Cortex AI is groundbreaking,” said Sridhar Ramaswamy, CEO of Snowflake. “Together, we are catapulting a new era of AI where customers across every industry and skill level can easily, efficiently, and reliably build custom AI applications on their enterprise data.”

Snowflake We also announced new tools to accelerate how developers use data to build enterprise-grade pipelines, models and applications.
As such, the company is furthering its mission to eliminate complexity for its customers with new developer tools and native integrations that speed up development and enable them to ship more advanced products on their AI data cloud.
“Thousands of developers around the world already rely on Snowflake as their development platform, and our latest innovations continue to push the boundaries of what developers can create in our AI data cloud, bringing a familiar and powerful experience to the enterprise data that already lives there,” said Jeff Hollan, head of applications and developer platform at Snowflake.
By offering these latest innovations, the company “ultimately puts AI in the hands of more users,” he added.
And with Snowflake Notebooks (now in public preview) natively integrated with the entire Snowflake platform, including Snowpark ML, Streamlit, and Snowflake Cortex AI, developers now have more ways to accelerate AI development directly on data in the AI Data Cloud.
For example, Lukas Biewald, co-founder and CEO of Weights & Biases, said that Snowflake Notebooks makes it easy to integrate experiment tracking with Weights & Biases directly within the notebook.
“Snowflake's centralized, secure access to data and compute enables data engineering and analytics to be performed alongside ML modeling in a familiar, intuitive, and powerful notebook-style format. We're excited to see our customers use this to run their experiments more quickly,” said Biewald.
The company also announced innovations and enhancements to Snowflake Cortex AI to provide customers with the next generation of enterprise AI that enables them to create AI-powered applications efficiently and reliably.
Added capabilities include a new chat experience that enables organizations to develop chatbots within minutes to interact directly with enterprise data and get the answers they need faster.
Snowflake is also democratizing how users can customize AI for their specific industry use cases through a new no-code interactive interface, access to industry-leading large-scale language models, and serverless fine-tuning.
