Snowflake Data Cloud and Machine Learning Power Instacart’s Online Model

Machine Learning

E-commerce provider Maplebear Inc., formerly known as Instacart, has two constituencies to satisfy. You need to meet the needs of customers who order groceries online while helping retailers grow their business.

To fulfill these two missions, Instacart relies on Snowflake Inc.’s data cloud and associated machine learning libraries and tools.

“There is a lot of machine learning built into the Instacart app,” said Mahadev Konar (pictured, left), senior director of engineering at Maplebear. “[Retailers] We are now looking to create highly personalized experiences for our customers. All of these are based on machine learning. “

Connor spoke with theCUBE Industry Analysts Dave Vellante and Lisa Martin at the Snowflake Summit during an exclusive broadcast on SiliconANGLE Media’s live streaming studio, theCUBE. Optimization support

In addition to providing key tools and libraries through the Data Cloud, Snowflake works with Instacart to fine-tune the system to run faster and more efficiently.

“We are working together to understand where the opportunities lie [are] For optimization,” Abanes said. “Maybe you don’t need this particular table or this particular data set because you’re not accessing the data as often as you think. It starts with sex.”

Snowflake has attracted customers like Instacart by providing a unified data management platform with multiple ways to query different data types in a streamlined solution.

“We are in a very unique position to leverage the sheer volume of data that customers like Instacart bring to the platform,” said Abanes. “Think of our collaboration and data sharing use case. Now we can share not just data, but all kinds of applications we build in our favorite languages. That’s our key differentiator. It’s transformation.”
