SDAIA aims to build a national enabler to support AI adoption across government agencies
Saudi Arabia’s government sector is accelerating the transformation of its service delivery model through the growing adoption of data and AI technologies, which are improving institutional performance and efficiency, improving service quality, accelerating transaction completion, and improving the beneficiary experience.
This transformation is being led by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), the national standard for data and artificial intelligence in regulation, development and innovation.
SDAIA builds national enablers to support AI adoption
SDAIA aims to build a national enabler that supports the adoption of AI across government agencies, develops regulatory frameworks, strengthens governance, and enables the optimal use of data.
We will also launch initiatives and platforms that contribute to building a more efficient and proactive digital government, while promoting a culture that relies on data and AI to develop public services, transforming them from traditional models to smart and flexible services that respond to society’s needs.
The Cabinet’s approval to designate 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence reflects the significant progress made by the Kingdom and the organization’s strong interest in this field, and demonstrates the leadership’s commitment to expanding the impact of developing advanced technologies across various sectors, especially the government sector, in a way that increases spending efficiency, improves the quality of services, and keeps pace with the people’s aspirations for a more innovative and efficient government.

SDAIA leads national strategy on data and artificial intelligence
Since its founding in 2019, SDAIA has led a national strategy on data and artificial intelligence focused on six pillars: ambition, capacity, policy, investment, innovation and ecosystem.
These initiatives have moved the Kingdom from strategic planning to implementation, including regulating the AI sector and developing advanced digital infrastructure.
Saudi Arabia’s advances in data and artificial intelligence are reflected in its global rankings. Ranked 14th in the 2025 Global AI Index, Saudi Arabia holds a leading position in the Arab world in AI model development. Investment in the sector has increased significantly, with government spending on emerging technologies increasing by more than 56% in 2024 and AI companies securing $9.1 billion in funding.
Infrastructure was also expanded with the launch of the Shaheen III supercomputer and the Hexagon Data Center, the world’s largest government data facility with a capacity of 480 megawatts.
Saudi Arabia has also established a national data lake that integrates more than 430 government systems.
