Videos of presidential candidates were created using AI.
This TikTok post, which claims to show Uganda’s 2026 presidential candidate Mubarak Munyagwa with two platters full of food, is satirical.
The clip shows the shirtless Commons Party leader eating while onlookers watch.
A similar claim was also shared on X (formerly Twitter).
However, the clip shows inconsistencies and irregularities, suggesting it was created using artificial intelligence.
Tencent’s Zhuque AI image and video detector determines whether visual content is AI-generated or human-authored, classifying 53.54 percent of videos as AI-generated.
A closer look at the video reveals that Munyagwa’s movements appear uneven and unnatural, especially while eating. Additionally, the faces of some people in the background appear blurry, further suggesting that the footage is artificially created.
PesaCheck showed the video to Munyagwa, who laughed at it and admitted in a message that it was fake.
Munyagwa and other party leaders are often photographed eating on the party’s symbolic platter, known locally as a rusaniya.
PesaCheck investigated a TikTok post by Ugandan presidential candidate Mubarak Munyagwa that claimed to have two platters full of food and found it to be satirical.
