After a recent software update brought Galaxy AI tools to more Samsung smartphones (the older Galaxy S22 is expected to add AI capabilities in a May software update), Samsung is apparently rolling out additional AI tools. It seems like they are focusing on development. New rumors suggest that the smartphone giant plans to double down on artificial intelligence in his upcoming One UI update.
According to serial leak information ice universe, Samsung plans to focus its One UI 6.1.1 software update on video and artificial intelligence. The leaker didn't share any details about what we can expect from One UI 6.1.1, but did say that “One UI 6.1.1's major innovation will be video AI.”
Of course, simply calling it video AI leaves a lot of room for imagination. Samsung's update could focus on how it leverages AI to create better videos. It's also possible that One UI 6.1.1 will focus on video creation, allowing users to provide text instructions that Samsung's tools will spit out.
Either way, this isn't the first time Samsung has used AI in video production. The company already offers the ability to convert regular video into slow-motion footage with One UI. This feature, called “Instant Slow-Mo,” could be just the tip of the iceberg of what Samsung has planned.
Whatever happens with Samsung's phones, it's clear that the phone maker will continue to focus on AI, even after introducing a series of features with this year's Galaxy S24 release. And after partnering with Google to develop one of those features, the Circle to Search tool, Samsung plans to continue its AI efforts with Google's help. This tool is now also available for Pixel smartphones.
Rick Osterloh, Google's senior vice president of devices and services, recently posted a photo of himself alongside Samsung's head of mobile division TM Roh on X, suggesting the two executives were discussing AI. Stated.
I had a great conversation with the leadership at TM and @SamsungMobile. Our partnership has never been stronger. We are excited about our collaboration on AI and the many opportunities it presents for both companies. pic.twitter.com/mOjMer7SigApril 25, 2024
“I had a great conversation with TM and the management team,” Osterloh wrote in a post. “Our partnership has never been stronger, and we are excited about our collaboration on AI and the many opportunities that lie ahead for both companies.”
Osterloh couldn't share how the two companies could collaborate on AI, but we may not have to wait long to find out. In addition to the possibility of future One UI software updates for Google smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to arrive later this summer, perhaps sooner than usual.
These foldable smartphones will definitely come with Galaxy AI features and not just a rehash of features already on offer. We're likely to see more AI-powered tools, perhaps even in the form of foldable devices. As it turns out, Google will be considering its own foldable update in the future called the Pixel Fold 2.
