Longtime Slashdot reader Ammalgam shares a report from CRM Rank. Salesforce, a leading provider of customer relationship management software, has announced price increases for some of its cloud and marketing tools starting in August. The company’s decision to raise prices for the first time in seven years was met with a positive response from the market, with shares up nearly 4% in early Tuesday trading.
Salesforce’s move is consistent with the current trend for technology companies, including Salesforce itself, to invest in generative artificial intelligence (AI) and incorporate it into their products and services. To enhance its software capabilities, Salesforce has spent over $20 billion in research and development over the past seven years. These investments have led to the introduction of new capabilities, particularly generative AI tools, aimed at providing enhanced value to customers. The revised pricing applies to a wide range of Salesforce products, including Tableau, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Industry. Both new and existing customers will be subject to price adjustments, ensuring consistency across the customer base. In a statement, Salesforce detailed the new price increase, stating, “New list pricing will apply worldwide to new and existing customers purchasing new cloud in August 2023. New list price for Professional Edition is $80. ($5 more), it’s the Enterprise Edition.” $165 ($15 more), Unlimited Edition $330 ($30 more). Pricing for these editions will be similar in other currencies. Similar list price increases apply to Industry, Marketing Cloud and Account Engagement, CRM Analytics, and Tableau. ”
