Many of us are having penny-dropping moments when using imaging apps and services like Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and DALL, and the huge leap in the power of generative AI over the past few months has been a big leap forward for me. It is no exaggeration to say that it caught many of us off guard. D First time.
As the quality of the images produced by these platforms continues to improve at an alarming rate, moving images and videos have always been the logical next step for text-to-image technology. With the recent release of Runway’s iOS app, we now have an easy-to-use tool that seems set to bring these features into the mainstream.
The New York-based startup’s video-to-video generative AI model Gen-1 has been available online for some time, but the launch of its own RunwayML (opens in new tab) The app is the first time the platform can be used directly from a mobile phone.
The app can now edit and enhance existing videos with models and their AI filters, making it easy to create impressive new clips. Stuff like that will inevitably start flooding timelines in the coming weeks.
Create nightmarish sledgehammer-style clips
From Claymation and ‘Paper and Ink’, in addition to the app’s ability to display text prompts, there are dozens of preset filters to ruin your videos.
Some of the results can be a little jarring and unintentionally psychedelic like most generative AI today, but some of the clips provided are impressively usable and the technology will soon It shows you where you are going.
It takes several minutes to process the results, and for non-premium users there is a rather large limitation of the source clip being limited to just 5 seconds in length, but the prompt to browse copyrighted content is It tends to be rejected (our attempts to produce Hanna-Barbera style clips are knocked back for example).
The non-subscription version of this service has a limit of 525 credits, with a maximum of 14 credits used for 1 second video production.
And if that’s not enough, there are Standard ($143.99/year) and Pro ($344.99/year) subscription tiers. The former plan offers 625 credits per month plus enhanced features like 1080p video. The Pro plan, on the other hand, gives you 2,250 credits per month, plus access to all of Runway’s other AI tools.
