Australian cloud provider ResetData, part of the Centuria Capital Group (ASX: CNI), has announced AI-F1, a public sovereign AI supercomputer.
Located in Australia, AI-F1 offers onshore, high-performance AI computing resources tailored for the government, academic and business sectors.
Multi-Megawatt Supercomputers allow customers to take advantage of NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) NIM microservices.
ResetData's AI-F1 launch was a little short of the expected schedule. The February announcement said the supercomputer would begin operations in the second quarter of 2025.
According to the company, the good thing about AI-F1 is that it retains sensitive data within Australia and ensures that companies can “compete globally while protecting data and keeping it on land.”
More than 350 people reportedly worked to complete the vision for the new supercomputer, including creating 12 full-time jobs.
ResetData claims that AI-F1 is the most powerful Public GPU Cluster supercomputer in the nation, exceeding the capabilities of current leaders such as Gadi and Setonix.
Currently, Gadi is recognized as a well-reputed co-pilot for solar and renewable energy management, while Setonix focuses on accelerating scientific research in areas such as astrophysics, climate science, and health sciences.
Setonix is also said to be one of the most eco-friendly supercomputers in the world that AI-F1 aims to emulate.
“AI-F1 utilizes innovative liquid immersion cooling technology to reduce emissions by 45%, reduce operational costs by up to 40% compared to legacy data centers, and operates with zero wastewater,” Resettda elaborates, and the platform offers 10 times better cooling performance on just one floor of traditional data center floors.
Supercomputers are housed in existing buildings to ensure minimal latency for critical applications.
Additionally, ResetData's comprehensive AI Marketplace offers instant access to pre-built, pre-trained, NVIDIA certified AI solutions.
Celebrate in competition
To celebrate the launch of AI-F1, the company has launched a competition for Australian innovators, startups, researchers and organizations.
“We challenge participants to think big,” said Australian comedian and technical commentator Adam Spencer. “Can we see a large-scale language model in Australia? New ways to increase health and well-being, or new ideas to address housing affordability?”
The winners of the competition will be announced at the Sydney SXSW Festival from October 15th to 16th. The total prize package is valued at approximately $1 million, including up to 200 billion AI tokens and mentorship.
Competition applications will be accepted until September 30th.
