Ramco promotes Sandesh Bilagi to CEO to drive global expansion and AI-native enterprise software strategy

AI For Business

The appointment follows Ramco’s turnaround as the company focuses on expanding its global business and incorporating AI across its enterprise software portfolio.

Ramco Systems has promoted Sandesh Biraghi to chief executive officer, an executive who led the company’s turnaround as it focused on global expansion and becoming an AI-native enterprise software company.

Mr. Viraj assumed the role of President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and led the company to a return to sustained operating profitability, achieving six consecutive quarters of operating profit through FY2026.

This appointment marks the company’s shift from improving operational performance to accelerating growth across international markets, while integrating AI more deeply into its products and operations.

Ramco said Bilagi will focus on expanding its global business and driving its strategy to become an AI-native enterprise software company.

PR Venketrama Raja, Chairman of Ramco Systems, said the company’s performance over the past few quarters reflects a sustained turnaround.

“Over the past few quarters, Ramco has emerged as a stronger and more disciplined company. Six consecutive quarters of operating profit are evidence of a real turnaround, rather than a one-off adjustment,” said Raja.

He added that Viraj has been at the heart of the company’s turnaround and understands its customers, market and operations.

Turnaround leader takes command

Bilagi has over 20 years of experience across enterprise technology, including sales, delivery, and operations.

He established Ramco’s Australia and New Zealand operations and said the company had grown the business into one of its strongest international markets through key customer acquisition and expansion of its product and solution portfolio.

During his time at Ramco, he led sales and operations, managed the organization through two leadership changes, and supported business continuity during COVID-19.

Ramco Systems managing director PV Abinav Ramasubramaniam Raja said Bilagi had played a key role in both building the ANZ business and improving the company’s operational performance.

He added that Ramco’s current priorities are focused on expanding globally and incorporating AI across its products and how the company operates.

AI and global growth become key priorities

Biraghi said Ramco has returned to profitability, strengthened execution and is focused on growing the business in the next phase.

He identified two priorities for the company.

The first is to expand Ramco’s presence in the global market by strengthening its go-to-market strategy across HR and Global Payroll, Aviation, ERP, Logistics and Chia product lines.

The second is to transform Ramco into an AI-native enterprise software company.

Bilagi said the company’s approach is not to add AI as another product feature, but to use AI to redesign how products are built, delivered, and operated.

“We have worked hard to restore profitability and strengthen execution. The challenge now is to maintain that rigor and translate our strengths into significant growth,” Biraghi said.

“Second, is to become a truly AI-native company. Rather than embedding AI in our products, we will reimagine how we design, deliver, and operate around AI so that every customer experiences measurably better outcomes.”

He added that Ramco will continue to build an organization that can quickly adapt to changes in technology and customer requirements.

Prior to joining Ramco, Bilagi held leadership roles at HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra.

The company said he led strategic growth initiatives, established an offshore development center and closed more than US$550 million in corporate transactions with leading Australian organizations.

Mr. Bilagi has experience managing enterprise software businesses across the Asia Pacific region, having worked in India, China and Australia during his career.
