Pudong WAIC session showcases new AI technologies

Unmanned ships, 3D navigation, and AI painting are among a series of Pudong-made technologies to be showcased at the parallel Pudong session of the 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).

WAIC 2023 will be held in Shanghai from Thursday to Saturday, using Pudong’s innovation engine Zhangjiang as one of two parallel session venues.

According to the Pudong Municipal Technological and Economic Commission, local technology companies will be exhibiting new technologies at the Zhangjiang Science Museum. A variety of unmanned boats, from pleasure boats to “water purification boats,” will also sail to nearby Zhangjiang Island.

Metaverse-themed forums will also be held at the Science Museum, focusing on new technology and product releases such as Web 3.0 and brain-computer interfaces.

Meanwhile, discussions of key topics addressed by world-renowned computer scientists such as 2007 Turing Award co-winner Joseph Sifakis and Zhang Bo, hailed as the father of AI in China, took place. will be split.

The session will also witness the release of the “2023 New Financial Blockchain Innovation Application List”, the establishment of the “IJCAI-SAIA China Office”, and the strategic cooperation with the OpenAtom Foundation to establish the International Cooperation Headquarters.

After years of hard work, Pudong is well on its way to becoming an AI hub.

Pudong is home to Asia’s largest AI supercomputing center with a total computing power of Php 5,000 and a Shanghai data exchange with a trading volume of over RMB 270 million (USD 37 million).

Pudong has built more than 18,000 5G outdoor base stations, as well as Zhangjiang Robot Valley, Zhangjiang Digital Chain and other industrial cluster parks. It also announced the first regional regulations on the innovative application of intelligent networked vehicles in China.

Favorable policies will continue to be announced, attracting global talent to support developments in digitalization, the metaverse, intelligent networked vehicles and other cutting-edge areas.
