ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The government plans to launch a nationwide skill upskilling program ‘AI Seekho 2026’ through which to train the country’s youth in artificial intelligence and provide them with economic opportunities, state media reported on Monday.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information has launched the AI Seekho program in partnership with Google for Developers, Telenor Pakistan and leading IT company Innovista, state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.

The program is designed to introduce practical “vibe coding” techniques – encouraging AI tools to generate code for you rather than writing it by hand – using tools such as Google AI Studio and Antigravity.

“The program will connect participants with the National Incubation Centre, Pakistan Startup Fund and global platforms, providing economic opportunities to participants,” Radio Pakistan said.

IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government aims to train more than 1 million people in artificial intelligence.

She said the IT ministry has set a target to upskill more than 100,000 developers under the AI Seekho program with support from Google.

“So it’s an understanding that artificial intelligence and technology today is not just for technology people, it’s equally important for the non-tech community,” she said in a video clip shared by Radio Pakistan.

Pakistan has recently made forays into AI, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announcing in February that the government would invest $1 billion in AI by 2030 to modernize its digital economy.

Pakistan also approved a national AI policy in July last year, followed by the launch of the country’s sovereign AI cloud and startup fund.
