OpenAI has launched a program designed to help small and medium-sized businesses use ChatGPT to increase productivity and grow their business.
The ChatGPT Small Business Program includes webinars that demonstrate how small businesses can use ChatGPT Work for accounting, marketing, e-commerce, and other use cases. In-person OpenAI Academy events that offer guided instruction, hands-on exercises, and support from fellow business owners. Content such as customer stories, interactive guides, and short-form videos that show how business owners can get started with ChatGPT Work. The company said in a press release on Tuesday (July 21) that it will offer plugins, skills and special offers from OpenAI partners.
“We’re excited to see small and medium-sized businesses explore use cases with ChatGPT Work and have ChatGPT Work take on tasks that would otherwise be outsourced, thrown by the wayside, or treated as just one of many responsibilities owners must tackle,” OpenAI said in a release.
OpenAI began rolling out ChatGPT Work on July 9, describing it as a new agent in ChatGPT designed for tasks more complex than typical chat requests. The company says ChatGPT Work can perform actions across a user’s apps and files. You can spend as many hours on a project as you want. Create sheets, slides, documents, web apps, and other finished materials.
In a press release Tuesday announcing the small business program, OpenAI said small businesses need enterprise-grade technology that is accessible and affordable.
“ChatGPT Work is also powered by GPT-5.6, our most advanced model available for businesses of all sizes and all subscription plans,” the company said. “This means businesses can use the latest models and our most powerful agents whether they’re doing their deepest work at their desk or on the go between shifts. Small businesses can choose the right level of intelligence models for the work at hand, and together they give lean teams more flexibility to balance quality, speed, and cost.”
PYMNTS reported on July 14 that Citadel Securities found that new business applications in the U.S. have increased and the median number of employees for seed-stage startups has decreased since the launch of ChatGPT.
According to Citadel Securities, founders who once needed separate employees for accounting, marketing, customer service and compliance can now pool these functions across small teams using AI.
