COMPUTEX—To address the growing demand for real-time AI computing at the industrial edge, NVIDIA today announced the general availability of NVIDIA AI Enterprise-IGX software. NVIDIA Holoscan To NVIDIA IGX™ PlatformTogether, these will enable solution providers in the medical, industrial and scientific computing sectors to develop and deploy edge AI solutions more quickly with enterprise-grade software and support.

NVIDIA AI Enterprise-IGX is a new offering that provides enterprises with unprecedented performance, security and support for their edge computing software stack, streamlining AI operations and deployment of AI applications at scale.NVIDIA Holoscan is a sensor processing platform that streamlines the development and deployment of AI and high-performance computing applications, providing real-time insights.

By combining NVIDIA AI Enterprise-IGX and Holoscan on IGX, NVIDIA delivers an enterprise-grade platform that delivers powerful AI computing, flexible sensor integration, real-time performance and functional safety for the industrial edge, reducing the time and cost required to build advanced AI solutions across industries.

“As software-defined capabilities continue to transform businesses across industries, enterprises are looking for powerful edge AI solutions that meet their unique performance and regulatory requirements,” said Deepu Talla, vice president of Robotics and Edge Computing at NVIDIA. “The new capabilities of the NVIDIA IGX platform deliver powerful enterprise-grade software from the cloud to the industrial edge to improve performance, safety and scalability for our customers.”

NVIDIA IGX Platform Expands
In addition to the introduction of NVIDIA AI Enterprise-IGX with NVIDIA Holoscan, the NVIDIA IGX platform is A major refresh.

  • Formerly known as the IGX Boardkit, the NVIDIA IGX Orin™ 700 now supports the NVIDIA RTX™ 6000 Ada GPU as a new configuration option, delivering up to 1,705 trillion operations per second, a 7x increase in AI performance compared to using an onboard iGPU, providing more computing power at the edge for generative AI and high-performance computing workloads.
  • NVIDIA IGX now supports the new IGX Orin 500 system-on-module, which enables flexible carrier board designs and custom configurations without sacrificing enterprise software support.
  • of NVIDIA Certified Systems™ Program The IGX platform has now been included, validating that systems built with IGX can run accelerated AI workloads with optimized performance. Companies such as Advantech, ADLINK, Aetina, Ahead, Cosmo Intelligent Medical Devices (a division of Cosmo Pharmaceuticals), Dedicated Computing, Leadtek, Onyx and YUAN have built NVIDIA-certified IGX systems.

Bringing AI to the cutting edge of healthcare
Leading medical technology companies Barco, Karl Storz, Medtronic and Moon Surgical are adopting NVIDIA IGX and Holoscan to accelerate the development of AI-powered solutions including medical diagnostics, surgical assistants, surgical robots and patient care agents. Additionally, Johnson & Johnson MedTech is working on how NVIDIA IGX and Holoscan can accelerate AI development for Polyphonic, Johnson & Johnson MedTech's digital ecosystem for surgery.

Healthcare technology provider Medtronic is using NVIDIA IGX and NVIDIA Holoscan in its GI Genius™ intelligent endoscopy module, designed, developed and manufactured by Cosmo Intelligent Medical Devices, which is the first FDA-cleared, AI-assisted colonoscopy tool to help doctors detect polyps that can lead to colorectal cancer.

“The NVIDIA IGX with Holoscan platform has significantly accelerated our AI innovations in endoscopy,” said Raj Thomas, president, endoscopy, Medtronic. “Leveraging NVIDIA's advanced technology allows us to focus on developing groundbreaking software applications that ultimately improve patient outcomes and better support physicians. This collaboration underscores our commitment to leading advancements in medical technology for the benefit of all.”

Robotic surgery company Moon Surgical is using IGX and Holoscan to power its Maestro System, a cutting-edge surgical robotic system designed to help surgeons with precision and control during minimally invasive procedures.

“The combination of NVIDIA's IGX platform and Holoscan has accelerated the development of our Maestro system and enhanced its capabilities,” said Anne Osdoit, CEO of Moon Surgical. “Our collaboration with NVIDIA has enabled us to get our intelligent robotic assistant in the hands of surgeons sooner and with more capabilities, and has provided valuable feedback for our commercialization.”

Industrial AI at the Edge
The NVIDIA IGX platform dramatically improves functional safety and high-bandwidth sensor processing, transforming factory automation and AI-robotic collaboration.

ADLINK uses NVIDIA IGX to build industrial-grade edge AI solutions for manufacturing processes.

“ADLINK leverages NVIDIA IGX and Holoscan to deliver proactive safety features that ensure more efficient and seamless human-robot collaboration,” said Stephen Huang, president and chief operating officer at ADLINK. “Together with NVIDIA, we will continually drive improvements in precision, safety and latency to optimize manufacturing operations, whether it's machine pathing, operating a robotic arm or monitoring a charging station, all at once.”

Edge AI for exploring extraterrestrial worlds
NVIDIA IGX helps scientific researchers explore new worlds with AI, transforming radar processing and radio astronomy with real-time edge computing capabilities.

The nonprofit research organization SETI Institute is using NVIDIA IGX Orin to power the radio astronomy capabilities of its Hat Creek Radio Observatory, which aims to discover technologically advanced extraterrestrial life.

“The SETI Institute is using the advanced capabilities of the IGX Orin platform in combination with our Holoscan sensor processing platform to enable revolutionary capabilities in radio astronomy,” said Andrew Siemion, Bernard M. Oliver Chair of the SETI Institute. “Now, with minimal overhead and superior computational performance, we can stream terabits of radio telescope data per second directly to our AI classifiers, allowing us to process more bandwidth from more antennas to detect weaker and rarer astrophysical phenomena.”
