Quick Summary
Google has announced several new features for its AI video creation app Google Vids.
The company also makes basic editors available to anyone, offering new features that are more commonly available as of today.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is almost everywhere at this point. Every time a new phone or smartwatch launches, there are new AI features that promise to change the world and make your life easier.
Some are better than others. It's a gamer changer that you can remove objects from the background of a perfect shot, but the AI video creation tool that keeps dropping will never sniff to either.
Although we can't all become professional video editors, if you want to do video making, AI makes video creation accessible to everyone, and Google is one of the leading companies in charge.
The Tech Giant just announced a new round of updates for Google Vids, an AI-powered video app, on its Workspace blog, making it easy to create sophisticated clips.
First released in April 2024, Google Vids has over 1 million monthly active users, and its latest features are generally available, not only for Workspace users, but aims to make video creation faster and more efficient.
What are the new Google VID features?
There is a new image-to-video feature that allows you to convert photos into dynamic 8-second clips with sound. Simply upload a product shot or stock photo and a simple text prompt turns it into a native audio animation.
If you don't want to put your face on the camera, the AI avatar announced during Google I/O is now available on Google Vids. Write a script, choose an avatar and deliver your message whether it's a training video for work or a more personal video.
For editing, automatic transcript trim is also streamlined, removing filler words and removing the nasty pauses with a few clicks. If you are someone who is prone to “umms” and “ahhs”, this may really be useful. Google has also announced noise cancellation, background and filters in advance.
Google Vids, which includes Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, is available to more viewers starting today, but everyone (both you and me) can get Google Vids Basic Editor for free. If you want to try it, but you're not sure, there's also a new “Vids on Vids” teaching series that will help you a little.
