Nobel laureate John Hopfield and alumnus Fei-Fei Li receive honor from King Charles III

Nobel laureate John Hopfield of Princeton and alumnus Feifei Li receive the 2025 award. Queen Elizabeth Engineering Award From Charles III A ceremony held at St James’s Palace in London on November 5th will honor the company for its “pioneering contribution to the development of modern machine learning”.

Hopfield and Lee were among seven AI luminaries to win the 2025 QEPrize, including Jeffrey Hinton, who shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics with Hopfield. Joshua Bengio. Bill Daly. jensen fan. And Yann LeCun. their honor is announced In February.

The annual QEPrize is awarded to engineers “responsible for breakthrough innovations that have benefited humanity globally,” according to a press release from the November ceremony.

Mr. Hopfield is the Howard A. Professor Emeritus of Life Sciences and Professor Emeritus of Molecular Biology at Princeton University. his nobel prize recognizes his “fundamental discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks.” He holds relevant teaching qualifications in physics and neuroscience. He taught for 16 years as a professor of physics and helped found the Princeton Neuroscience Institute.

Lee, a member of Princeton’s Class of 1999, was on the Princeton faculty when she conceived and began building ImageNet. this is, Paradigm shift in machine learning. She is currently the Sequoia Capital Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University and the founding co-director of the Stanford Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. Lee is also the author of the book The Worlds I See: Curiosity, Exploration, and Discovery at the Dawn of AI. 2024 Princeton Prelead.

Prior to their presentations, this year’s participants, along with last year’s QEPrize winners, visited 10 Downing Street for a roundtable discussion with Liz Kendall, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology.
