A few days after announcing the 2024 model change of Nio's ET7 sedan at the Beijing Auto Show, CEO William Li flew to the United States for a 48-hour trip.
During his visit, Li met with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and participated in an event hosted by the Peking University Northern California Alumni Association. At the university, Nio CEO participated in a panel discussion on electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and entrepreneurship.
“We have taken the ES8 to the airport and will be returning to China soon,” the CEO said in a video shared on WeChat. I attended his two-day conference in the United States. It's been a year since he last saw his colleagues from the United States. ”
Later in the video, Nio's CEO revealed that he met with Jensen Huang, CEO of AI giant Nvidia, which has been a partner of Nio since its founding in 2014.
“I met with Jensen Huang from Nvidia to discuss the direction of AI development. I also attended an event hosted by the Peking University Northern California Alumni Association. I hope so,” William Lee said.
Nio has been working with Nvidia since 2014, initially focusing on infotainment systems but later expanding to software-defined vehicles and self-driving features. Nio's current NT 2.0 platform-based models come standard with his four Orin X chips, providing a total of 1,016 Top computing power.
At last Nio Day in December, the company announced its first self-driving chip, which will be integrated into its executive flagship sedan, the ET9.
At its annual event, Nio introduced the Shenji NX9031, a new chip built on a 5nm process with over 50 billion transistors and supporting a 32-core CPU. At the time, William Lee said the chip's computing power was “comparable to four Nvidia Drive Orin X chips.”
