Manjeet Rege, director of the Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence at the University of St. Thomas, spoke to PolitiFact about the viral video of President Donald Trump touching former President Bill Clinton, and explained why forensic analysis revealed the video was created using artificial intelligence.

At the time, video was still a nascent medium, and even the White House videography team had limited access, Vasta said. He said he had no recollection of a videographer in the suite, noting that still cameras at the time did not have video capabilities.
Manjeet Rege, director of the Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence, analyzed the video and concluded that it was generated by AI based on real photos of Trump and Clinton.
“The most obvious sign is a static start artifact where the video starts with fully realistic, high-quality frames and then suddenly animates with unnatural movements, which is a hallmark of image-to-video AI tools,” Rege said.
