After OpenAI impressed us with its GPT-4o model, Google followed up with its conversational Gemini demo, which also made the future of AI look bright.
Google has released a new video showcasing a prototype of Gemini on Pixel that uses live video and voice prompts to provide information. The video appears to have been shot during preparations for Google I/O, which begins on May 14th.

In the demo, we show a Pixel smartphone running Gemini AI a stage being prepared for Google I/O and ask it what it thinks is happening. I am correct in saying that it looks like the stage is being set for a major event. When a letter appears on the screen, Gemini says it is for his Google I/O and briefly explains about Google's upcoming events.
Similar to OpenAI's latest ChatGPT demo, Google's Gemini video is impressive because the conversations feel natural. It's easy to forget that there's no human behind the sounds coming from your Pixel device. It moves naturally, as if two friends were sitting and having a conversation.
Without testing the two AI models, it's hard to know which one works better, but both are great. You should be excited (and perhaps a little nervous) about the future of AI based on these two demos. OpenAI says there will be further improvements in the future.
While Google's demonstrations are exciting, the company has come under fire in the past for making its AI demos look much more impressive than they actually are. We'll have to try it out to know for sure how good these Gemini changes are, but if the video is an accurate representation, the AI battle is just beginning. It will be.
Google's keynote is scheduled to kick off Google I/O, so we'll likely learn more about the Gemini plans and the company's many other projects soon.
