New HPE Aruba WiFi 7 access point for AI edge applications

Applications of AI

HPE Aruba has launched new HPE Aruba 700 Series WiFi 7 Access Points that are especially suited to support AI and IoT applications in edge environments.

The company says HPE Aruba's new access points are particularly suited for AI and IoT applications at the edge of enterprise networks due to their high performance. This performance improvement primarily comes from better utilization of different frequencies for wireless connectivity, especially the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz frequencies.

HPE Aruba WiFi 7 700 Series Access Points feature exclusive HPE Ultra Tri-Band hardware technology. This technology uses UTB filtering to remove channel interference in the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands. This improves performance and maximizes the capacity of your wireless link. It also helps businesses use both frequencies at the same time.

Perfect for AI applications

According to HPE Aruba, this high performance and capacity makes it particularly suitable for capturing and routing data for AI training and inference purposes.

The new Aruba 700 Series access points may also be attractive for potential AI applications and IoT environments, as they have twice the SDRAM and flash storage memory as previous models.

This increased processing power and storage allows container-based applications to run on the access point itself. This allows for more streamlined data transfer and local processing of data. Ultimately, the idea is that this could allow for faster responses to real-time conditions such as temperature or other movements.

Improved IoT capabilities

To enable better IoT applications, currently released WiFi 7 access points have enhanced support for various IoT protocols. For example, it has dual Bluetooth and Zigbee radios that work reliably in his IoT environment with many sensors. Dual USB ports allow you to connect a wide range of IoT devices using proprietary protocols. The integrated non-permanent external antenna is also suitable for demanding RF environments.

At the management level of IoT environments, HPE Aruba 730 Series Access Points eliminate the need for vendor-specific IoT overlay networks. This will allow his IoT devices in an enterprise environment to communicate directly with services from other vendors.

Other new features

The new access points also come with enhanced security. These include greater insights with HPE Aruba Networking Central Client Insights. New link-level encryption (MACsec) functionality has also been added, and the access point now has a personal wireless network mode for secure self-service device onboarding.

In addition, the access point provides features for better and more accurate location services, including support for new WiFi location standards for location-aware services with accuracy within 1 meter.

Another feature in this area is support for the IEEE 802.11az standard to enable proprietary location networks, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. There's also a GNSS receiver, a barometric sensor for mapping the floor, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.4 technology.

AI makes the access point much more energy efficient and uses dynamic power saving modes. HPE Aruba Networking 700 Series Access Points will be available starting in July and come with a limited lifetime warranty.
