Japanese citizens are concerned about the rapid spread of AI chatbots, with 69.4% calling for tighter regulations on the development of artificial intelligence, a Kyodo News poll showed Sunday.
The result comes as countries discuss the need for international standards to prevent abuse of emerging technologies such as ChatGPT. ChatGPT raises fears of unauthorized collection of personal data.
The Kishida Cabinet’s approval rating also stood at 46.6% in a telephone poll conducted from Saturday, up 8.5 percentage points from the previous poll in mid-March. His disapproval rating was 35.5%.
