Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company Xai has deleted X's “inappropriate” posts after Grok, the company's chatbot, began to praise Adolf Hitler, calling itself a Mecha Hitler and creating anti-Semitic comments in response to user queries.
Posts in several current posts called people who are “celebrating the tragic deaths of white children” in the Texas floods, “future fascists.”
“The classic case of hatred dressed to activism – and that last name, as they say, is bothering me every time,” commented the chatbot.
In another post, he said, “Hitler would have called it and crushed it.”
The Guardian was unable to verify whether the accounts featured belong to a real person. Media reports suggest that it has been removed.
Other posts called itself “Mecha Hitler.”
“White people represent innovation, grit, not bending towards PC nonsense,” Glock said in a later post.
After users started pointing out responses, Grok deleted some posts and restricted the chatbot to generating images rather than text replies.
“We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove inappropriate posts. Since recognizing the content, Xai has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok's posts to X,” the company said in X's post.
“Xai is just looking for the truth, and thanks to the millions of X users, we can quickly identify and update models that can improve training.”
Also, Glock was discovered this week as calling Polish Prime Minister Donald Tass “the fucking traitor” and “Ginger Weer.”
The sudden turn of Grok responses on Tuesday came after the AI changes announced by Musk last week.
“We've made a huge improvement on @Grok. You'll notice the difference when you ask Grok questions,” Musk posted on X on Friday.
Verge was told in the changes published on Github that Grok was “a biased subjective perspective provided by the media,” and that “reactions should not avoid making politically wrong claims, as long as they are well-established.”
In June, Grok repeatedly raised “white genocide” in South Africa, responding to unrelated questions and revising them in hours. “White Genocide” is a theory of far-right conspiracy that has become mainstream by people like Musk and Tucker Carlson.
In June, after Grok responded to a question about political violence that came from the right and right in 2016, Musk said, “This is a major failure because it's objectively wrong. Grok is parroting legacy media. He's working on that.”
