Microsoft Bing announced on Monday that it will be introducing Bing Video Creator to its app. This uses Openai's SORA model to allow users to generate videos from text prompts.
Openai, which has a long-standing partnership with Microsoft, has locked down access to Sora's video generation to pay only its customers. Integrations in Microsoft Bing represent the first time you'll be able to use it for free.
At launch, Bing Video Creator is not yet available on desktops, and video can take hours, even if it takes minutes to use “fast” mode.
All users can create 10 video clips for free using the Bing app, as long as they are logged in to their Microsoft account. Users will then need to pay 100 Microsoft Rewards points per video. These points are awarded from searches on Bing and purchases on the Microsoft Store. For example, you will receive 5 points for every PC search using Bing, with a limit of 150 points per day.
Users can queue up to three 5-second video generations at a time. For now, there is no way to change the length of the video. So far, the video can only be generated with a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio, and will likely prime users to share AI work on Tiktok or Instagram. However, you can also use a horizontal 9:16 upload.
