Metcash is incorporating artificial intelligence into the architecture of its SAP-based B2B e-commerce marketplace called Sorted to improve search and product discoverability.

Sorted is based on SAP Commerce Cloud and connects approximately 3,500 product suppliers with independent supermarket buyers such as IGA, Foodland, Friendly Grocer, and Eziway.
One of the marketplace’s promoted benefits is that it helps retailers “identify top-selling products that are stocked elsewhere in the network that may be stocked in your store,” Simon Williams, Metcash’s general manager and head of B2B e-commerce, said last year.
The marketplace analyzes local sales data and makes product recommendations to retail buyers.
Now, Metcash will integrate Coveo’s AI-Relevance platform with its SAP environment to “deliver hyper-personalized search results and a more streamlined and intelligent e-commerce experience,” the wholesaler said in a statement.
“Sorted, Metcash’s B2B e-commerce marketplace, leverages Coveo’s commerce-tailored AI models and its SAP partnership to support thousands of independent independent businesses across Australia to access and source the products and services they need to run their businesses in a simpler, better and more efficient way than ever before,” Mr Williams said today.
Metcash is a wholesaler to independent grocery, liquor and hardware stores across Australia.
